B. Replace Latch Assembly

1. Disconnect the latch switch and remote release solenoid electrical connectors (if equipped).

2. Disconnect the key cylinder linkage from the latch lever.





3. Remove the latch assembly attaching screws and remove the latch assembly (Figure 7).

4. FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A REMOTE RELEASE:

a. Remove the remote release solenoid from the latch assembly. Discard the screws.





b. Install the solenoid on the new latch assembly using the provided screws. Install the solenoid so that the solenoid bracket mates to the rear (flat) side of the latch support bracket. Insert the screws through the latch bracket into the solenoid bracket. Ensure that the release lover is located inside the solenoid plunger cutout and above the roll pin. (Figure 8).

c. Torque the solenoid attaching screws to 24 in-lbs (2.7 Nm).

NOTE:
Cycle the solenoid plunger in and out several times. Make sure the plunger operates smoothly and does not bind.

5. Install the provided latch assembly (with solenoid attached if equipped) into the liftgate and torque the provided attaching screws to 130 in-lbs (14.7 Nm).

6. Connect the latch switch and remote release electrical connectors (if equipped).

7. Connect the key cylinder linkage to the latch lever.
