Cooling Fan - Causes Steering Wheel Vibration

SUBJECT:
Steering Wheel Vibration Caused by Cooling Fan 3.3L Engine Only



MODELS:

1993 (AS) Caravan/Grand Caravan/Caravan CV
Voyager/Grand Voyager/Town & Country


SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Steering wheel may vibrate when vehicle is stopped, engine is at idle and cooling fan is running at low speed.


DIAGNOSIS:

1. Start engine and select A/C.

2. Put the A/C blower on low speed. Be sure the ambient temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit or higher during test. Verify engine cooling fan is operating.

3. If steering wheel vibrates excessively, turn off A/C. If steering wheel vibration stops, perform repair procedure.


PARTS REQUIRED:

1 Module, Cooling Fan 4644367


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacing the cooling fan module.

1. With the ignition switch in the off position, disconnect the wiring connector to the fan motor.

2. Remove the right and left retaining screws at the module upper attachment points.

3. Move the module so its upper right mounting tab is disengaged from behind the A/C condenser mounting bracket. Remove the cooling fan module from the vehicle.



4. Install the new cooling fan module (PN 4644367) by reversing the previous steps. Be sure the upper right mounting tab of the cooling fan module is positioned between the radiator and the A/C condenser mounting bracket.
