Belt Will Not Move From B-Pillar Position

CAUTION: When testing operation of system, ensure care is taken not to damage connectors, terminals or seals. Damage to terminals and connectors may result in system malfunction or failure.

NOTE: Use suitable volt and ohmmeters when performing the following tests.

1. Check console limit switches as follows:
a. Disconnect torso belt and allow it to retract, then check brown wire of 21-way connector for left side or brown/white wire for right side, for continuity to ground.
b. If circuit shows continuity, pull torso belt out and ensure circuit goes open.
c. If no continuity is present, check ground circuit, then replace torso belt assembly if system still fails.
2. Check A-limit switch as follow:
a. Disconnect module 21-way connector, then check light blue wire of 21-way connector for left side or light blue/white wire for right side, for continuity to ground.
b. If no continuity is present, check ground circuit for opens and/or poor connections. If circuit checks are satisfactory, replace track and motor as an assembly.
3. Check 5 volt module output to limit switch as follows:
a. Disconnect motor connectors, then place key in the On position and check for five volts at the light blue wires of the module 21-way connector.
b. If no voltage is present, check connections and wiring, then replace module if system still fails to operate properly.
4. Check motor circuit continuity as follows:
a. Reconnect motor connectors, then check for continuity between dark green and dark blue wires of module 10-way connector for left side motor or between dark green and dark blue/white wires for right side motor.
b. If no continuity is present, check wiring and connections for opens. If circuit is found to be satisfactory, replace motor and track assembly.
5. Check door jamb switches for complete circuit to ground with doors open as follows:
a. Disconnect module 21-way connector, then check black/light blue wire for continuity to ground for left side or violet/yellow wire to ground for right side.
b. If no continuity is present, check for a poor connection, defective switch or open ground.
6. Check for mechanical problems as follows:
a. Check anti-rollover latch for freeness.
b. Check cable for binding.
c. Check for a stuck carrier
7. Check module forward relay contacts as follows:
a. Connect a test light between dark blue and dark green wires of harness side motor connector. Turn ignition Off, then On.
b. If test light illuminates, replace motor and track assembly.
c. If test light does not light, check for open or bad wire connection. If wires and connections are satisfactory, replace module.
