Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

Fuel Tank, Filter, And Chassis Line Routing:

WARNING: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel system component.

REMOVAL

1. Release fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove filter mounting screw, and remove filter assembly from frame rail.
4. Loosen inlet and outlet hose clamps. Use an appropriate shop towel to absorb any leakage, and remove hoses. Discard used clamps.

Fuel Filter:

INSTALLATION

1. Install filter on hoses with new clamps, and torque to 10 in-lbs (1 Nm).
2. Install fuel filter on frame rail and tighten mounting screw to 75 in-lbs (8 Nm).
3. Using scan tool [1], activate fuel pump to pressurize system, and check for leaks.
