TEST POINT 10

Temperature Sensor II (Engine Temperature)

1. Disconnect upper plug (1) in engine compartment at left side on plug plate. Make sure contacts are clean.
2. Connect ohmmeter on engine end plug section and ground.
Specification at
0° C / 32° F = 4.4 to 6.8 k-ohms
15 to 30° C / 59 to 86° F = 1.4 to 3.6 k-ohms
40° C / 104° F = 1.0 to 1.3 k-ohms
80° C / 176° F = 250 to 390 ohms
100° C / 212° F = 160 to 210 ohms
130° C / 265° F = 90 ohms

Note: Cylinder head and sensor temperature is approx. 130° C / 265° F with an oil temperature of 90° C / 194° F.
Sensor resistance value is then about 90 ohms.
If specified values are not reached, check wires or replace temperature sensor if necessary.
Break in temperature sensor causes richer mixtures.
Short circuit in temperature sensor causes leaner mixtures.
