Assembling Crankcase




DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING CRANKCASE




1. First tighten both capped nuts in area of oil cooler flange (bearing no. 1) with torque of 35 Nm (25 ft lb), and then the anchorage bolts.




2. Tighten M 10 x 1 nut on stay bolt for bearing no.7 with torque of 35 Nm (25 ft lb).




3. Coat sealing lip with oil and pull in seal with Special Tool P 216.




4. Coat sealing lip with oil and drive in seal with Special Tool 9126.




5. Hold flywheel with Special Tool P 238 b and tighten nut with torque of 90 Nm (65 ft lb).




6. Hold pulley with Special Tool 9236.

Note: Always only hold pulley with Special Tool 9236. Pulley could be damaged by holding the flywheel instead of the pulley.




Guide Rail Arrangement on Crankcase




Three black guide rails, Part No. 911 105 222 06, and one brown guide rail, Part No.911 105 222 05.

Brown guide rail must be mounted on bottom of right crankcase section (arrow).

Mounting Guide Rails

Screw in mounting bolts while simultaneously pressing guide rail against mounting bolts that guide rail engages in grooves of mounting bolts. Long end of guide rail faces timing chain sprockets on intermediate shaft.
