Engine Oil: Service and Repair

REPLACING ENGINE OIL AND ENGINE OIL FILTER

Requirement - Engine at operating temperature.







1. Unscrew oil drain plug in crankcase and oil tank and drain engine oil.




2. Loosen oil filter with a standard strap. Catch remaining oil.
3. Clean drain plugs. Always replace seals. Tighten drain plug in the crankcase to 70 Nm (51 ft lb) and in the oil tank to 42 Nm (30 ft lb ).
4. Lubricate seal on oil filter with oil slightly, tighten filter by hand until pressed against seal. Then tighten by one half turn more.
5. Add engine oil, run engine to operating temperature and check for leaks.
6. Check oil level on engine running at idle speed and operating temperature.
