This is to notify you of a pre-delivery/recall campaign involving 1985 Model Porsche 944s. The end fitting of fuel hose, Part #951.356.019.01, manufactured by a secondary supplier, might be over-crimped, and may cut into the hose material leading to a fuel leak. Such a fuel leak could cause a loss in the system pressure and thus cause the engine to stall. Fuel vapors in the engine compartment could also be ignited by a spark, causing a fire. The vehicles involved are within the following vehicle identification number ranges:
WPOAAO94-FN450001 to
WPOAAO94-FN451912
This will serve notice to you that some of these vehicles are subject to a pre-delivery campaign and must, therefore, be corrected prior to sale. Section 108 of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act prohibits the sale of a new motor vehicle although it does not comply with an applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. Consequently, should you sell any of the affected vehicles without first performing the campaign correction, your dealership may be subject to a civil penalty of up to $1,000 for each such sale.
Customer Notification
Porsche Cars North America will notify all known owners directly by first class mail on April 25, 1985 as per enclosed copy of notification.
For those vehicles which are in dealer's inventory or conerning which the sales information is not on our files, the notification will be addressed to the dealer. If the vehicle is in stock, the campaign should be performed without delay. If the vehicle has been retailed or dealer swapped, the dealer is to make the necessary arrangements to have the customer or swapping dealer contacted and the campaign performed.

Since the secondary supplier of the fuel hose was involved in 60% installation rate, parts will be automatically shipped to you on the following basis:
Tie wrap - 100% of the cars allocated and sold by you
Hose kit - 60% of the cars allocated and sold by you
Additional quantities, when needed, should be ordered through normal parts channels, using the above part number.
