Subject:
Providing Fuse Protection for Steering Pump Switch (Service Action 191)

ATTENTION:
Service Manager/Service Technician

This is to notify you of a Service Action for 1987/88 Model 944 S Porsches. It has been determined by Porsche AG that in some cases, the contact spring inside the steering pump switch (for idle regulation) could break causing a short circuit in the switch. This may, under some circumstances, lead to an overload in the DME wiring harness causing it to short out. Affected vehicles may have reduced idle and/or a stall in certain limited circumstances.

Damage to the DME harness can be prevented by providing fuse protection for the steering pump switch circuit.

The vehicles effected by this service action are:

Model 1987: WP0AA094_HN450001 to WP0AA094_HN453127
WP0AA294_HN465101 to WP0AA294_HN465113

Model 1988: WP0AA294-JN465061 to WP0AA294-JN465561
