Test Point 6 - Air Flow Sensor
TEST POINT 6Air Flow Sensor
1. Push back protective sleeve of plug on air flow sensor.
Plug remains connected.
Connect voltmeter on term. 3 on back of plug and ground.
Turn on ignition.
Specification: 5 ± 0.5 volts
2. Remove air cleaner. Connect voltmeter on term. 2 and ground.
Specification: approx. 260 mV (0.26 V)
Move sensor plate to full load position.
Specification: approx. 4.6 V
Sensor plate must move easily, without hesitation.
3. Check temperature sensor I (intake air temperature).
Turn off ignition and pull off plug on air flow sensor.
Connect ohmmeter between term. 1 and 4 on air flow sensor.
Specification at
0° C / 32° F = 4.4 to 6.8k-ohms
15 to 30° C / 59 to 86° F= 1.4 to 3.6 k-ohms
40° C / 104° F = 0.9 to 1.3k-ohms
Note: Break in temperature sensor causes richer mixture. Short circuit in temperature sensor causes leaner mixture.
