Disassembly
- Clamp holder 9177 in vise, mount input shaft and unscrew collar nut with special tool 9105.
- Press all components off input shaft with a suitable tool (e.g. Kukko 17-1).
Press off bearing inner race with suitable tool (e.g. Kukko 17).
Assembly
NOTE: Install all input shaft components dry, to prevent oil from reaching the contact surfaces.
- Install intercept stops for synchronization right way round (convex side toward operating sleeve).
A - with rotary groove
B - with 3 pockets
NOTE: A modified gear shift sleeve will be installed as from 13.01.87 (3 cut-in pockets instead of the rotary groove).

- The new gear shift sleeve has center marks in the area of the pockets for installation, which must be mounted concentric to the driving dogs.
- Check synchronizing rings by pressing rings onto cones of gearwheels and measuring gap "A" with a feeler gauge.
^ Specified gap (new) = minimum 0.9 mm
^ Wear limit = O.6-O.7 mm
- Using special tools 9177 and 9105, tighten collar nut to 250 Nm (182 ft lb).
- Lock collar nut by punching collar.
