Subject:
Automotive Refrigerant Identifier

Attention: Service Manager / Service Technician

When checking for testing automotive refrigerant systems, it can be difficult to identify the actual type of refrigerant in the system. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. recommends the RI-2002 tester from NEUROTRONICS INC. This automotive refrigerant identifier can assist the technician in identifying which refrigerant (R-12 versus R134a) is in the system, as well as the air content. Since these tow refrigerants are not compatible with each other this could save you and your dealership the added expense associated with repair of the refrigerant system.

Some of the highlights of this equipment include:

- Flammable refrigerant alarm with digital display
- Displays the actual percentage of air in the system
- Assures 98% purity of the refrigerant in the system
- Shows a digital display of refrigerant percentages

For more information concerning the RI-2002 please review the brochure, questions can be directed to a technical representative at 1-800-378-2287.

DANGERS OF CROSS CONTAMINATED AND FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANTS:

^ Damage to automotive A/C systems
^ Reduced A/C system performance due to cross contaminated refrigerants or excessive air
^ Damage to or contamination of recycling equipment
^ Contamination of bulk refrigerant cylinders Potential liability problems and disposal dilemmas
^ Flammable hazards

THE RI-2002 ASSURES COMPLETE A/C PROTECTION!

LCD DISPLAY OF REFRIGERANT PURITY & CROSS CONTAMINATION PERCENTAGES

The RI-2002 analyzes and identifies R12, R134a and R22 to protect against costly cross contamination in vehicles, recovery recycling machines and storage cylinders. In addition to purity "PASS/FAIL" LED indicators. the actual percentages of R12, R134a and R22 are shown on a digital LCD display.

NEW FEATURE:

Displays Actual Percentages of Air

The micro-processor based RI-2002 now displays the actual percentage of air in any A/C system whenever good (better than 98% pure) R12 or R134a is detected. Knowing that a "good" R12 or R134a A/C system has too much air saves the technician valuable time and money and gives him a huge head start in diagnostic trouble shooting.

NEW FEATURE:

Flammable Refrigerant Warning

Using an audible and visual alarm for technician safety, the RI-2002 immediately alerts the user to the presence of flammable refrigerants (e.g. propane and butane based "drop-in" refrigerants). As an added benefit, the RI-2002 displays the actual percentages of hydrocarbons when they are detected.

Simple to Use, Fast Results

The operator simply turns the RI-2002 "ON," attaches the refrigerant sample hose directly to the vehicle's A/C system vapor port and pushes the "START" button. The identification process takes about 30 seconds, and the RI-2002 self-calibrates before every test!

BEFORE YOU BUY: COMPARE!!!

THE RI-2002 IS THE ONLY IDENTIFIER THAT GIVES YOU THE PROTECTION YOU NEED!

ASSURES 98% PURITY

Reduced performance and system compatibility problems are encountered when R12 and R134a are cross contaminated, and serious damage can occur even if small amounts of R22 are present in an A/C system. The top-of- the-line RI-2002 is the only identifier capable of verifying 98% pure R12 or R134a and that a R134a retrofitted vehicle meets the SAE J1661 98% purity standard. Simply stated, the greater the accuracy, the less chance for refrigerant cross contamination damage.

DISPLAYS THE ACTUAL PERCENTAGE OF AIR

Because air dilutes refrigerants, too much air can seriously diminish A/C performance. With the all-new RI-2002, the automotive A/C technician can measure air in the tested air conditioning system directly. This critical information allows the technician to perform initial system diagnostics BEFORE advancing to more time consuming and costly trouble shooting procedures! This incredible diagnostic feature is only available in the RI-2002!

DIGITAL DISPLAY OF REFRIGERANT PERCENTAGES

The RI-2002 has an easy to read LCD display which tells the service technician the actual percentages of R12, R134a and R22 present in the tested A/C system. By knowing the specific contents of the A/C system, you can decide how to handle the contaminated refrigerant (disposal, dilution, etc.), and increase your customers' confidence with specific data, not just, "It was bad refrigerant."

FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANT ALARM & DIGITAL DISPLAY

The RI-2002 is the only identifier with a separate alarm (horn and light) to warn the service technician when a flammable refrigerant is detected in the A/C system. With the added feature of displaying the percentage of hydrocarbons detected, A/C technicians can make important service and disposal decisions. Using proper safety practices, an A/C system containing 100% hydrocarbons can actually be vented into the atmosphere. However, a system containing a mix of A/C refrigerants and hydrocarbons cannot be vented and requires separate labeling and disposal procedures than pure A/C refrigerants.
