Test Point 8 - Idle Speed Positioner

1. Disconnect electrical connector from idle speed positioner.
2. Using insulated test wires, connect battery positive to center terminal of idle speed positioner.
3. Alternately supply ground to each outer terminal.

Positioner clicks each time, proceed to next step.
Positioner does not click, replace idle speed positioner. End of test.

4. Disconnect test wires.
5. Reattach positioner electrical connector.
6. Turn ignition ON, feel idle speed positioner.

Positioner vibrates, proceed to next step.
Positioner does not vibrate, replace idle speed positioner. End of test.

7. Connect tachometer to engine.
8. Start engine and allow idle to stabilize.
9. Turn idle air bypass screw on throttle body.

Positioner corrects speed change, system OK. End of test.
Positioner does not correct speed, additional problems exist in system.
