Model Group

All 8

Part Identifier Number

8734 9018
ATTENTION: Service Manager/Warranty Administrator

During a recent investigation, we found that most of the A/C compressors submitted were not defective. Also, many of the compressors did not have the suction and discharge valves capped.

Please follow the procedures listed below which will help to avoid costly delays in claim processing and parts being returned:

1. Compressor should be packaged in original box, 2. Suction and discharge valves must be capped, 3. Ensure that part is tagged using a Porsche Warranty tag with all pertinent information and reason for replacement.

4. If applicable, ensure the part has the necessary core credit documentation.

In the event the compressor is returned as non-defective or not a warrantable defect from the Porsche Cars N.A. test center, it will be shipped and tagged in the manner as listed below:

The compressor will be charged with refrigerant. Please make sure the compressor is discharged utilizing the refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment outlined in Technical Bulletin Group 8, Number 8902 before removing hose fitting caps. The compressor also has new oil filled to the correct level. Do not add oil to the compressor.

For further information, refer to Technical Bulletin Group 8, Number 8604, Technical Bulletin Book "C", page 197.
