Test Point 16 - Tank Venting Valve

TEST POINT 16: - Tank venting valve (V) - Fault code 1_43

Possible Causes, Elimination, Remarks
The electrical valve at the intake air distributor is opened for a longer or shorter period as a function of the load during engine operation at operating temperature. The opening period is determined by a ground pulse from the control unit.

a) Activation test
Activate the tank venting valve in the "Drive link activation" menu of the tester. If there is no audible pulse, check voltage supply at terminal 1 of the solenoid valve plug in accordance with the wiring diagram.

b) Control signal test
Connect Digital Motor Electronics (DME) test lead (Bosch No. 1 684 463 093) between solenoid valve and plug connection. Connect and adjust engine test in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

Tank venting valve is not activated permanently

The test must be performed within 7 minutes after starting an engine at operating temperature. (After this, interrupt tank venting valve activation for approx. 75 Seconds and then continue.)

Start engine and accelerate. This must be visible on the tester for an engine which is at operating temperature.

The signal becomes wider as the air throughput increases. If there is no signal, check the path in accordance with the wiring diagram. Replace control unit if necessary.
