Disassembly/Assembly

Drive Pinion Assembly:





Legend:





- Refer to images for instructions and legend.





Disassembly
- Remove lock nut with Special Tools 9142, 9142/1 and 9282.





Assembly
- Heat cylindrical-roller bearing up to approximately 120°C (248°F) and press into correct position.

NOTE: Fit the bearing in such a way that the collar of the roller cage points towards the four-point bearing.





- Heat inner bearing rings for four-point bearing up to approx. 120°C (248°F) and press into correct position.
A = larger inner race (outer diameter 56 mm), points towards pinion head when installed.
B = smaller inner race (outer diameter 53.5 mm), points towards fixed gear (4th gear when installed).





- Tighten lock nut to: 240 Nm (177 ft lb)





- Notch the collar to secure.
