Models Affected:
911 C2/C4, 1989-on 911 Turbo, 1991-on

Concern:
Loose or broken final muffler carrier plate or bolt.

General Information:
A modified spacer sleeve with a larger contact area on the lower bolt of the final muffler carrier plate and the two (2) mounting bolts (M8x75) that connect the carrier plate to the muffler have been changed.

The new version spacer sleeves have been used from production date April 15, 1991, from engine numbers:

62M 01670 Manual transmission
62M 54558 Tiptronic transmission
61M 02156 911 Turbo

The new mounting bolts have been used from production date January 14, 1993, from engine numbers:

62P 03255 Manual transmission
62P 51399 Tiptronic transmission

The new mounting bolts are of higher tensile strength and are torqued to a higher value than the former bolts.

Repair Information:
When repairing vehicles for loose or broken muffler mountings, the new version bolts, lower spacer and new torque specification should be used.

Note:

** On vehicles without power steering, the lower spacer is also used on the top mounting point.
