Modifying Porsche Special Tool 9163/1

When removing a 1993 and later 928 GTS 5-speed transmission, Porsche Special Tool 9163/1 will need to be modified in order for the transmission to be supported properly. The upright Special Tool 9163/1 needs to be widened in the area of each slot by 5mm by removing material from the center of tool. See the illustration for details of the modification.
Remove 5 mm of material from the inside edge until the total slot width of 13 mm is reached. This will allow the fixture to accept the increased width of the transmission case during removal and installation.
