Canister Purge Control Valve: Description and Operation

OPERATION OF THE TANK VENT
A solenoid valve is installed in the line between the carbon canister and the air intake system. The direction of flow of the solenoid is indicated by an arrow on the plastic housing.

The valve is frequency controlled by the map just above the area for engine idle and when the cylinder head temperature is > 95°C (203°F).

This ensures that the correct amount of purge air is mixed in accordance with the intake air volume. In a no-voltage state the solenoid valve is closed. The valve can be checked with the System Tester using the "drive link test" menu item.
