Center Stoplight Bulb Replacement

ATTENTION: Service Manager / Service Technician

Models Affected:

911 Carrera and 911 Turbo, as of Model Year 1995

Concern:

Replacement bulbs for the center stoplight are now available as spare parts.

Repair Procedures:

ROOF MOUNT CENTER STOP LIGHT

- Lift off the cover for the center stoplight and remove the rubber strip.





- Remove the light bracket from the locating pins and remove the (2) screws that hold the light strip in the lens assembly (# 6 in figure 1).

- Disconnect the wiring for the center stoplight and the phillips screws from the light strip cover (# 3).

- Unplug the wire harness from the bulb Strip (# 5).

- Using a fine tip soldering iron, unsolder the defective bulb and solder in a new bulb. Be very careful not to let any excess solder run across the bulb connecting strip (short circuit).

- Reassemble the center stoplight far enough to test for proper operation of the light. Complete the reassembly.

ENGINE LID MOUNT CENTER STOPLIGHT

- Remove light bracket from the engine lid.

- Remove the (2) screws that hold the light strip in the lens assembly (# 6 in figure 1).

- Disconnect the wiring for the center stoplight and remove the phillips screws from the light strip cover (# 3).

- Unplug the wire harness from the bulb Strip (# 5).

- Using a fine tip soldering iron, unsolder the defective bulb and solder in a new bulb. Be very careful not to let any excess solder run across the bulb connecting strip (short circuit!).

- Reassemble the center stoplight far enough to test for proper operation of the light. Complete the reassembly.
