Removing The Car Radio

NOTE:
- When the car radio is replaced by a new or different car radio, read out the data using the Porsche System Tester before removing it.
- The car radio has an optical waveguide. For information on optical waveguides.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.







1. Plug in the removal tool into the opening provided on the radio until it is felt to engage.
2. Carefully pull the radio out of the installation slot with the removal tool.







3. Carefully move the radio to the front, place on the centre console. It is recommended to place a cloth between the centre console and the radio.
4. Release the plug connections by pressing the locking plugs -a- and pull out from the radio -arrow-.

NOTE:
- Depending on the I No. (CD changer, Bose, amplifier) the number of plug connections varies.
- The version without additional audio components (external Most control units) has a jumper (output goes to input) plugged in for optical waveguide connectors.







5. Press in the locking hooks (coloured) on the radio -arrow- and simultaneously pull out the removal tool.

Installing The Car Radio







1. Before the "new" car radio is installed, release and unplug the protective plug -A- for the optical waveguide.







2. Press in electrical plug and the optical waveguide plug on car radio until it is felt to engage -a-.

NOTE: Before the car radio is inserted into the installation slot, it must be ensured that the electrical lines are not squeezed and damaged by the car radio.

3. Push the car radio into the installation slot until the locking elements on the radio housing engage.

Teaching The Car Radio

NOTE:
- If a new car radio is to be installed in a vehicle, the PCM2/CDR23 code specified in IPAS must be used.
- You can get the codes from IPAS or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number.
- If possible, before the car radio is removed and replaced, a read-out of the vehicle data should be obtained from the Porsche System Tester.
- During coding, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the Porsche System Tester. Connect a battery charging unit to the vehicle battery.
- Symbol for the TAB key = ->|
- Instructions for the Porsche System Tester have a higher priority and are to be followed where descriptions deviate. Deviations may occur with later software versions (as of 15.0).
- The procedure given here has been structured in general terms; different texts or additions may be displayed in the Porsche System Tester.

1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch ignition on. >> to continue.
2. Select vehicle type using the cursor keys.
3. Using the >> key, move from the vehicle type to the list of control units.
4. Select 'CDR23' with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
5. In the 'CDR23' menu, with the cursor keys on 'CDR23' press the >> key.
6. Select 'Control unit replacement' with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
7. Select 'Coding' with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
8. The message 'Coding read-out complete' will appear on the screen of the Porsche System Tester. Press the >> key.
9. Switch off ignition and replace car radio.
10. Switch on ignition. After replacement of the car radio, the vehicle data is installed under the menu 'Write coding' (see Section 7). Press the >> key.
11. System Tester displays 'Coding write-in complete'. Press the >> key.
12. Follow the instructions of the tester.

NOTE: For a new car radio, also continue under step 13.

13. In the menu 'CDR23' to 'Coding', press the >> key.
14. In the menu 'Coding' select the 'Production mode' and press the >> key.
15. Select 'Production mode off' and confirm with the F8 key.
16. In the menu 'CDR23' to 'MOST actual installed components list'.

NOTE:
- In the 'MOST actual installed components list' the detected installed components are displayed.
- The detected installed components from the 'MOST actual installed components list' is compared with the 'MOST required installed components list'.

17. In the menu 'CDR23' to 'MOST required installed components list'.
18. If the required items do not match the actual installed list, change the 'MOST required installed components list' to the status of the 'MOST actual installed components list' by coding.
19. Leave the 'CDR23' << menu and read out the fault memory and delete as necessary.
20. Leave the 'CDR23' << menu.

NOTE:
- Switch on the car radio. If the car radio cannot be switched on, or if it switches on but music cannot be heard, switch off the ignition and remove ignition key. Close the doors and lock the car. Wait till the alarm system LED flashes "normal". Unlock vehicle and switch on the radio again.
- If the radio does not switch on after this procedure, proceed according to the Technical Manuals.
