Carrera Rear Spoiler
Engine Compartment Purge Fan Wiring
8-24-01
Vehicle Type:
911 Carrera (996) / 911 Carrera 4 (996)
Model Year:
MY 1999 (X)
Concern:
Reversed polarity on the 2-pin plug for the engine compartment purge fan.
Information:
The purge air fan in the engine compartment has the wire polarity reversed on the plug connector. All new vehicles produced before to April 25, 2001, (VIN 99 91S 65 4217) with the exclusive special option no. "XAE" (Carrera rear spoiler) are affected.
This also applies to vehicles fitted with the Carrera spoiler kit (996 512 903 00 G2X) available through the parts department.
The reversed polarity of the connector reverses the airflow through the engine compartment. The air blows out instead of in.
> All vehicles fitted with the spoiler by the factory or at the dealer workshop before the above mentioned date and VIN must be repaired.
> All new uninstalled kits manufactured before the above mentioned date must be corrected before it is installed on the vehicle.
