Passenger's seat belt tensioner
Diagnostic conditions
- Ignition on
Possible cause of fault
- Incorrect coding
- Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit in the wiring between the passenger's seat belt tensioner and the airbag triggering unit
- Passenger's seat belt tensioner faulty
- Triggering unit for airbag faulty
NOTE:
- The contacts in the seat belt tensioner are very sensitive.
- When connecting the test tool No. 9516/4,ensure that both special tool contacts are connected parallel and simultaneously.
- The connector must be locked after insertion to create the electrical connection.
Affected pins
Pins 3 and 4 in left-hand drive vehicles
Pins 1 and 2 in right-hand drive vehicles
Diagnosis/troubleshooting
Part 1:
Test tool No. 9516/4 instead of the seat belt tensioner
Part 2:
NOTE: If the fault memory is cleared, the ignition must be switched off, the ignition key removed and the ignition switched on again in order to check the fault path. Only in this way is another self-test carried out.
