Replacing Current Distributor

Removal
1 Disconnect the battery and cover the terminal or battery.
2 Remove protective cap and undo M 8 fastening nut of the battery cable on the current distributor.
3 Undo both M 8 fastening nuts on the current distributor and lower the current distributor from the firewall into the passenger's footwell.

4 Before removing the outer lid, remove the two sealing labels. Open and disengage the outer lid.

NOTE: On newer vehicles there is only one sealing label on the outer lid.

5 After marking the allocation of the vehicle electrical system leads to the associated fusible elements, disconnect the vehicle electrical system leads and the positive lead to the B+ disconnection point

Installation
1 The vehicle electrical system leads must be connected in the correct order to the new current distributor with new original M 6 hexagon nuts.
Tightening torque 7 Nm (5 ft lb.)
2 The positive lead to the B+ disconnection point must be tightened with a new original M 8 hexagon nut.
Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ft lb.)
3 The outer lid must be sealed with the two service labels (red).
4 Replace gasket between current distributor and firewall if necessary. After the current distributor is mounted on the firewall (tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ft lb.)) the battery cable is tightened with a new original hexagon nut M 8.
Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ft lb.)
5 As it is essential to observe the tightening torques for the hexagon nuts, these values are stamped into the inner lid. The original repair kit "Current distributor" is available as a spare part.
