Loose Stabilizer Bar Connection

Vehicle Type:
911 Carrera (996)

Model Year:
2000 (Y)

Concern:
Front and rear stabilizer bar connections becoming loose.

Information:
The stabilizer bars have a new "dip-coated" paint process. The paint thickness on the stabilizer bar was exceeded on vehicles produced between March 20th and May 19th, 2000. As the result, the screw connection joining the stabilizer bar to the connecting rod from the strut can become loose after a brief period of operation. The loose screw connection can cause the stabilizer bar to make rattling noises.

In the event of a "rattling nose" complaint, retighten the screw connection joining the stabilizer and connecting rod to the correct torque.
