Manual Program Switch - Short Circuit to Ground
P1744
Manual program switch - Short circuit to ground
Function
The manual program switch connects ground potential to the Tiptronic control module in the manual shift gate, which releases manual touch shifting. A manual program is not possible if the transmission control unit detects a short circuit to ground.
Diagnosis conditions
A fault is detected and stored when the ignition is switched on and the selector lever is in position "P". or "N".

Diagnosis procedure
NOTE: The function of the manual switch can be tested with the Porsche System Tester 2 (input signals/manual program).
1 Check ground at Tiptronic control module, pin 13.
1. Pull off Tiptronic control module connector.
2. Connect ohmmeter to Tiptronic control module connector, pin 13, and ground.
Indication:
In the automatic gate Infinity Ohm.
In the manual gate 0...5 Ohms.
2 Check wire from the Tiptronic control module to the manual switch for short circuit to ground.
1. Additionally pull off connector on manual switch.
2. Connect ohmmeter to Tiptronic control module connector, pin 13, and ground.
Indication: Infinity Ohm.
If 0...5 Ohm is indicated, check wiring harness for crushing and chafing damage.
