2. Sew new holding strap onto the 25 mm strip of old holding strap in the areas shown, ensuring the Velcro portion of the new strap is on the inside. (Figures 4 and 4a, arrows A and B) The second stitch (Figure 4a, arrow B) is approx. 20 mm below the first stitch (Figure 4a, arrow A) Skip to step 5.

3. If no old holding strap was available for stitching, it will be necessary to sew the new holding strap to the bonded tab of the convertible top seal. The bonded tab is about 30 mm in length, and runs on the inside of the convertible top seal (Figure 4b, arrow B). Temporarily detach the bonded tab, sew the new holding strap at area A as shown in Figure 4a, and re-bond the tab after sewing is complete. Add second stitch at area B, approximately 20 mm from the fastening seam.

4. Inspect the control arm around which the holding strap slides for burrs, residues, or any other obstruction that may cause damage to the strap. Clean or smooth if necessary. Apply black paint over any exposed areas if reworking was necessary.

5. Wrap new holding strap around the control arm and secure the Velcro portion, ensuring the Velcro is overlapped completely.

6. Operate convertible top several times to ensure proper folding. Adjust Velcro strap as necessary until proper folding/top operation is attained.
