Work Procedure

1. Preparatory work.

1.1 Remove spare wheel and cover for the brake booster.

1.2 Remove radiator tank cover (Technical Manual, Group 7, Part ID 70221.

1.3 Remove battery (Technical Manual, Group 9, Part ID. 9).

1.4 Remove lower trim of left A-pillar, relay carrier, and fuse carrier.

1.5 Remove display and control unit (PCM2) (Technical Manual, Group 9, Part ID 9110), or car radio (Technical Manual, Group 9, Part ID 9124).





1.6 Remove audio amplifier and holder for audio amplifier (A in Figure 3).

1.7 Remove plug (B) for carpet lining in the area of the radiator tank and loosen carpet lining.

2. Install electrical wiring harness for CD changer.

2.1 Bundle the wires of the electrical wiring harness for the CD changer with electrical tape.

Note:
Bind RD/GN 0.75 squared wire only to service grommet.





2.2 Drill wiring harness grommet (A) in the luggage compartment with 8 mm drill.

2.3 Route electrical wiring harness for CD changer through the carpet lining and wiring harness grommet into the radiator tank and affix.

3. Install optical wave-guide.

Important Note:
Observe requirements when working with optical wave-guide. (Technical Manual, Group 9, Part ID 9768).

3.1 Disconnect the optical wave-guide joint in the front luggage compartment.





3.2 Open clamp (A).

3.3 Press-out plastic pin (B) and remove joint holder (C) from radiator tank.

3.4 Disconnect plug connection of both optical wave-guides.





3.5 Route optical wave-guide set from optical wave-guide joint (A) along radiator tank to installation position of CD changer (B) and fix.

3.6 Join plug connection of optical wave-guide joint.

3.7 Install joint holder on radiator tank.

3.8 Close clamp.

3.9 Permanently mount standard optical wave-guide.

Note:
The standard optical wave-guide remains function-less in the vehicle.

4. Install CD changer.

4.1 Adjust CD changer to installation position.





4.1.1 Loosen adjusting screws (A).

4.1.2 Adjust installation position (horizontal, vertical) by moving the adjusting screws.

4.1.3 Tighten adjusting screws.

Drive version: Installation position:
Rear wheel drive V vertical
Four-wheel drive H = horizontal





4.2 Position holder for CD changer on the CD changer and tighten with screws (A)

4.3 Install base holder for CD changer.





4.3.1 Insert press-in nuts (A) in the holes of the radiator tank.

4.3.2 Insert U-clips (B) in the luggage compartment floor.

4.3.3 Place the carpet lining in the luggage compartment and tighten with plugs.





4.3.4 Insert base holder for CD changer in the luggage compartment and tighten with screws (A).

4.4 Insert CD changer in the luggage compartment.





4.4.1 Insert plug and optical wave-guide plug (A) into the CD changer.

4.4.2 Position CD changer with holder for CD changer and insert in the U-clips (B and C).

5. Route electrical wiring harness for CD changer to the interior.





5.1 Remove service grommet (A) from the firewall.

5.2 Remove insulating material from service grommet and put a hole into the service grommet.

5.3 Push service grommet over the electrical wiring harness for CD changer.

5.4 Install service grommet.

5.5 Fix electrical wiring harness for CD changer.

5.6 Seal the cutout on the service grommet with adhesive compound (B).

6. Install electrical wiring harness.

6.1 Prepare fuse carrier.





6.1.1 Unlock locking lugs (A) on both sides and remove rear fuse carrier cover.

6.1.2 Unlock locking lugs (B) on both sides and remove fuse block 'E' from fuse carrier.

6.1.3 Pull locking pin (C) from fuse block 'E'.

6.2 Establish power supply 'E6/Term. 30'.

6.2.1 Remove fuse 'E6' from fuse carrier.





6.2.2 Press out pin of RD/GN 0.75 squared output wire with 88040 and disconnect (A).

6.2.3 Bundle RD/GN 0.75 squared wires from retrofit kit with RD/GN 0.5 squared wire (vehicle-side) and crimp with a new pin (B):

6.2.4 Insert pin in the fuse carrier.

Note:
Ensure that pin is fitted securely.

6.2.5 Insert fuse 'E6' in slot.

6.3 Complete the fuse carrier.

6.3.1 Push locking pin in fuse block 'E'.

6.3.2 Push fuse block 'E' in fuse carrier.

6.3.3 Clip in rear fuse carrier cover

Note:
Ensure correct seating of the leeks.

6.4 Route electrical wiring harness for CD changer in the area of the fuse carrier and Secure.

6.5 Route electrical wiring harness for CD changer to the radio/PCM2 installation slot and secure.

6.6 Connect "terminal A8" (ground) to the 8-pin black plug A (radio/PCM2).





6.6.1 Pull locking pin (A) from plug housing.

6.6.2 Press out pin of wire BN 2.5 squared with 90006 (B) and disconnect.

6.6.3 Combine wire BN 0.75 squared from the retrofit kit and bundle wire BN 2.5 squared (vehicle-side) and crimp with a new pin (C).

6.6.4 Insert pin in plug housing.

Note:
Ensure that pin is fitted securely.

6.6.5 Push locking pin into plug housing.

6.7 Connect "terminal C4" (wake up diagnose) to 6-pin yellow plug C1 (radio/PCM2).





6.7.1 Press out pin of WH/RD 0.35 squared wire with 93005 (A) and disconnect.

6.7.2 Bundle WH/RD 0.35 squared wire from retrofit kit and WH/RD 0.35 squared wire (vehicle-side) and crimp with a new pin.

6.7.3 Push pin in plug housing.

Note:
Ensure that pin is fitted securely.

7. Complete the vehicle.

7.1 Install display and control unit (PCM2) or car radio.

7.2 Install fuse carrier, relay carrier, and lower trim of left A-pillar.

7.3 Install battery, connect, and install radiator tank cover.

7.4 Install holder for audio amplifier and install audio amplifier.

7.5 Install cover for brake booster and spare wheel.

8. Program CD changer with PST2.

8.1 Read out PCM2 fault memory and erase.

8.2 Adapt the MOST required installed components list to the MOST actual installed components list.

8.3 Check MOST components.

8.4 After programming is complete, read out the fault memory of all systems, correct any existing faults, and erase the fault memory.

9. Carry out function test.
