Replacing Seat Frame






Preliminary work
1. Remove padding for front seat. Refer to Removing and installing padding for front seat
2. Remove belt lock. Refer to Removing and installing front belt lock

NOTE: Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

3. Remove air cushion motor. Refer to Removing and installing air cushion motor

NOTE: Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

4. Remove air cushion control valve. Refer to Removing and installing air cushion control valve

NOTE: Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

5. Remove switch for air cushion. Refer to Removing and installing air cushion switch
6. Remove wire harness for electrically adjustable seats. Refer to Removing and installing wiring for electrically adjustable seats

NOTE:
- Only for USA/Canada version vehicles.
- Passenger's seat only.

7. Remove AWS control unit. Refer to Removing and installing AWS control unit

NOTE: Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

8. Remove air cushion for seat. Refer to Removing and installing air cushion for seat

Disassembling seat frame

Removing cover for AWS sensor on left and right

NOTE:
- Only for USA/Canada version vehicles.
- Passenger's seat only.

1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove cover for AWS sensor -2- in direction of arrow.






Removing frame for seat surface
1. Press out retaining pins -1- at the left and right with a screwdriver.






2. Unscrew fastening screws -2-, pull frame for seat surface -3- downwards -arrow A- and remove outwards -arrow B- from the seat frame -4-.

Removing backrest frame

NOTE: Two persons are needed to remove and install the backrest frame.

1. Secure backrest frame -2- in upright position.






2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on left and right and remove backrest frame -2- up out of the seat frame.

Assembling seat frame

Installing backrest frame

DANGER: Loosen the safety screws.
- Danger of injury if front seat is not screwed down correctly.

- Always replace fastening screws for the front seat after customer service and reworking.
- It is not permissible to make alterations to the micro-encapsulated screws (e.g., use lubricant, loosen bolts, and screw them down again).

NOTE: Two persons are needed to remove and install the backrest frame.

1. Fit backrest frame -2- into the seat frame, position it correctly and secure with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque -] Tightening torque: 34 Nm (25 ftlb.)±4 Nm (±3 ftlb.)






Installing frame for seat surface
1. Position frame for seat surface -3- on the seat frame -4- (-arrow A-), press it upwards -arrow B- and screw down the fastening screws -2-.






2. Press in new retaining pins -1- at the left and right.

Installing cover for AWS sensor on left and right.

NOTE:
- Only for USA/Canada version vehicles
- Passenger's seat only.

1. Fit cover for AWS sensor -2- in direction of arrow and tighten hand-tight using the fastening screws -1-.






Subsequent work

NOTE: Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.


1. Install air cushion for seat. Refer to Removing and installing air cushion for seat
2. Install wire harness for electrically adjustable seats. Refer to Removing and installing wiring for electrically adjustable seats

NOTE:
- Only for USA/Canada version vehicles.
- Passenger's seat only.

3. Install AWS control unit. Refer to Removing and installing AWS control unit

NOTE: Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

4. Install switch for air cushion. Refer to Removing and installing air cushion switch

NOTE: Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

5. Install air cushion control valve. Refer to Removing and installing air cushion control valve

NOTE: Only for vehicles with adaptive sports seats.

6. Install air cushion motor. Refer to Removing and installing air cushion motor
7. Install belt lock. Refer to Removing and installing front belt lock
8. Install padding for front seat. Refer to Removing and installing padding for front seat
