Removing And Installing Control Module For Gas Discharge Lamp As From Model Year '02
WARNING: Danger of injury from high voltage.
- The light should always be switched off when the components (control module, gas discharge lamp, drive motor) are removed and installed.
- The gas discharge lamp (D2S lamp) should only be operated when installed in the reflector and in the installed headlight.
- A removed headlight does not have a high voltage.
Removing control module for gas discharge lamp
1. Switch off light.
2. Remove main headlight.
3. Unscrew fastening screws -arrow- from the control module holder and remove holder.
4. Raise the catch of the electrical plug connection (grey plug) with a screwdriver and disconnect.
5. Unscrew both fastening screws -A-, press both locking tabs -B- and remove the rear cap -1-.
6. Unscrew electrical plug connection -B- on the gas discharge lamp (bayonet lock).
7. Unclip the wiring arrangement -A- from the closure cap and remove the control module with the closure cap wire.
Installing control module for gas discharge lamp
1. Insert electrical connection for the gas discharge lamp into the closure cap.
2. Clip in wiring arrangement -A- and check for correct seating.
3. Connect and screw in (bayonet lock) the electrical plug connection for the gas discharge lamp -B- until it engages.
4. Engage the electrical plug connection (grey plug) on the control module.
5. Put the cap -1- into position and press down until both locking tabs -B- engage. Screw in both fastening screws -A-. Tightening torque: 4 Nm (3 ftlb.).
6. Fasten the control module in the correct position (observing the mounts on the closure cap) and fasten the holder with the fastening screws. Tightening torque: 4 Nm (3 ftlb.).
7. Install main headlight and perform a function test.
