Vehicle Type:
911 Carrera (997)/911 Carrera S (997)

Model Year:
As of 2005

Equipment:
Manual transmission G97.01

Concerns:
Reverse gear

Situation:
Preselector cable set incorrectly.

On 911 Carrera (997) and 911 Carrera 5 (997) vehicles with manual transmission, a preselector cable installed in the gearshift bracket undertension can prevent the gate of reverse gear from being reached. As a result, reverse gear cannot be engaged.

In the event of a complaint, the adjustment pin of the preselector cable must be loosened and the preselector cable must be re-adjusted in the gearshift bracket.

If the complaint cannot be remedied after re.adjustment of the preselector cable, the transmission must be replaced.

Action Required:
Re-adjust the preselector cable.
