Preliminary work for car radio
Remove both covers on centre console.
Removing the car radio
Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
1. Loosen the side fastening screws a few turns.
2. Insert an Allen key sideways into the screw connection of the radio latch hooks.
3. Close the latches (2 each side) with an Allen key -A- and carefully pull out the radio.
4. For reinstallation, open the latches with the Allen key -B-.
The number of plug connections will vary, depending on the I No. (CD changer, amplifier, etc.).
The variant without additional audio components (external Most control units) has a jumper (output to input) connected to the optical waveguide plug.
5. Unlock antenna plug -D, E- and remove.
6. Unlock and disconnect the electrical plug connections in the order -A, B, C-.
Installing the car radio
1. Connect the electric plug connections in the sequence -C, B, A- and the antenna amplifiers -D, E- so that the plugs are felt to engage.
2. Check that the locking tabs on the radio are out, opening the locking mechanism with an Allen key if necessary.
INFORMATION:
- Before sliding the PCM/radio into the installation slot, make sure that the electric lines are not trapped by the PCM/radio or damaged.
- After installation of a new display and PCM/radio operator control unit, the system must be activated with the PIWIS tester 9718.
3. Push the radio into the installation slot until the locking mechanisms engage on the radio housing.
4. Screw in the locking screw for the radio and tighten it.
Subsequent work
Subsequent work for car radio
Install both covers on centre console.
Reading out car radio
Reading out and transferring car radio codes
INFORMATION:
- When installing a new PCM/CDR in a vehicle, the PCM/CDR code specified in the PIWIS Infosystem should be available. Normally, the code is stored in the instrument cluster and is read out from the PCM/CDR.
- You can get the codes from the PIWIS Infosystem or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number.
- During coding, there should be a guaranteed power supply for the PIWIS Tester 9718. A battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A must be connected to the vehicle battery.
- The PIWIS Tester 9718 instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations may occur with later software versions.
- The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the PIWIS Tester 9718.
1. Connect the PIWIS tester 9718 to the vehicle and start it. Switch on the ignition. >> Continue.
2. Select vehicle type using the cursor keys.
3. Using the >> key, move from the vehicle type to the list of control units.
4. Select CDR24 with the cursor keys and press the >>.
5. In the menu CDR24, select Control unit replacement and press the >>.
6. Select Read codes and press >>.
7. On the screen of the PIWIS tester appears the message Coding read-out complete >>.
8. Switch off ignition and replace radio.
9. Switch on ignition. After replacement of the radio, the data previously read out (see Item 7) is reloaded under the menu Write in codes. >>.
10. PIWIS tester displays Coding write-in complete >>.
11. In the menu CDR24, select Required & Actual installed components list and press >>.
12. Compare the Actual/Required listing.
13. Remove ignition key, close and lock vehicle, then unlock and switch on ignition
14. Read out the fault memory again and erase as necessary.
15. Car radio is now taught.
