Disassembling And Assembling Bi-Xenon Headlights

Preliminary work
1. Remove main headlight.

Removing cap of main headlights







1. Unscrew four fastening screws -1- from the cap.







2. Release cap once at the top and twice at the bottom -a- and remove from the main headlight.

Removing control unit for gas discharge







1. Unscrew the fastening screw -2- for the coil and pull the coil -3- out of the cap.
2. Unscrew the two fastening screws -1- and remove the control unit.







3. Using a screwdriver, carefully release the electrical connector on the screwdriver and lever it out.

1. Turn connector to the left (bayonet lock) and pull it off.







2. Disengage both retaining bows and pull out lamp.

Installing gas discharge lamp

CAUTION:
Danger of injury. Danger of material damage if bulbs are used or handled incorrectly.
- When installed, the headlight has a high voltage.
- Only bulbs specified in the bulb table may be used.
- Bulbs with a higher wattage may damage the bulb housing.
- To prevent short circuits, the load in question must be switched off when changing bulbs.
- New bulbs must be clean and free of grease. Therefore, never touch bulbs with your bare hands. To change the bulbs, use a cloth or soft paper.
- Observe the safety instructions when replacing a bulb in a Bi-Xenon headlight.
- In certain states, it is compulsory to carry spare light bulbs.


1. Replace faulty lamp. Ensure that the lamp is seated correctly when doing so.







2. Insert both retaining bows.







3. Position electric connector and turn to the right as far as it will go (bayonet lock).

Installing control unit for gas discharge







1. Press in the electrical connector for the gas-discharge control unit until it clicks into place.







2. Insert the control unit in the headlight cap and screw down with both fastening screws -1-.
3. Push on the coil and screw it down with the fastening screw.

Installing main headlight cap







1. Position cap on main headlight and press into place, making sure that the cap engages once at the top and twice at the bottom.







2. Screw in four fastening screws -1- for the cap.

Subsequent work
1. Install main headlight.
