Situation:
Subsequent enabling of extended navigation module for PCM
Restriction:
Only for vehicles with PCM with navigation module. The extended navigation module can only be enabled for Europe and USA for model year 2005.
Important:
For model year 2005 (Europe and USA), it is absolutely essential that you update the PCM2.1 system connection to Model care B. --> Technical Information '911000 PCM2.7 navigation update'
NOTE:
The extended navigation module is an optional module for the PCM2.1 and can be enabled by entering a code. When the extended navigation module is enabled successfully, an additional option "Off Road" appears in the PCM2.1 "Navi" menu. This allows automatic route recording and subsequent backtrace navigation (return trip on a previously traveled route) as well as navigation in non-digitally recorded areas using a compass and GPS.
NOTE: To order this module, a "lock and key" order (ZNLK) is required because the VIN must be added to the order.
After the module has been ordered through the parts department, entering of the part and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in SAP, the code for enabling will de displayed in IPAS when the VIN is entered. NOTE: You must allow one business day for the information for SAP to be updated.

NOTE:
As of model year 2006, the function descriptions and operating instructions for the extended navigation module are included in the PCM2.1 operating instructions. For model year 2005 vehicles, the PCM2.1 operating instructions can be ordered separately.

Work Procedure:
1. Connect battery charger. --> Workshop Manual '27060150 Battery trickle charging'
2. Program extended navigation module.
2.1 PIWIS Tester 9718 must be connected and ignition switched on.
2.2 Select vehicle type.
2.3 Check that the vehicle identification number (VIN) shown in PCM and in the instrument cluster matches the VIN on the vehicle. If not, code the VIN correctly in the respective components.
2.4 Select "PCM", "PCM2 MMI", "Coding", Enable code Off-Road Navigation".
NOTE: The code is entered from left to right. Missing values, up to the end of the character chain, must be entered using "zeros".
2.5 Enter code and code with -F8",
2.6 Wait until "Coding has been changed" is displayed -> Coding performed successfully.
2.7 Switch off ignition and disconnect Piwis Tester 9718.
3. Disconnect battery charger. --> Workshop Manual '27060150 Battery trickle charging'
NOTE: Further information can be found in the PCM2.1 operating instructions.
4. Carry out function test during test drive.
