Preliminary work
1. Remove padding for side bolsters.
2. Remove lower part of lock for backrest adjustment.

NOTE: Only for passenger seat in USA/Canada vehicles.

3. Remove AWS control unit.

NOTE: Only for passenger seat in USA/Canada vehicles.

4. Remove wire harness for AWS.
5. Remove cushion carrier for front backrest.

Removing front seat frame






NOTE: Two persons are needed to remove and install the backrest shell.

1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-.






2. Lift seat shell -2- up and remove it from the bracket -3- (-arrows-).

Installing front seat frame

NOTE: Two persons are needed to remove and install the backrest shell.

CAUTION: Risk of damage to seat shell from the brackets.
- Risk of surface damage (scratches).

- Mask the seat shell with adhesive tape.

1. Mask the seat shell -1- at the left and right in the marked area with adhesive tape -2- (2-3 layers).






DANGER: Loosen the safety-related threaded joint.
- Danger of injury if seat shell is not screwed down correctly.

- Always replace fastening screws on seat shell.
- Never make alterations to the micro-self-locking screws (e.g. never use lubricant, loosen bolts, and screw them down again).

2. Position the seat shell -2- on the bracket -3- (-arrows-) and secure with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: 24 Nm (18 ftlb.)+3 Nm (+2 ftlb.)






Subsequent work
1. Install cushion carrier for backrest.

NOTE: Only for passenger seat in USA/Canada vehicles.

2. Install wire harness for AWS.

NOTE: Only for passenger seat in USA/Canada vehicles.

3. Install AWS control unit.
4. Install lower part of lock for backrest adjustment.
5. Install padding for side bolsters.
