Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking PCM And Air-Conditioning System Regulator

General information

Symptoms
Creaking/clicking noises from around the PCM/air-conditioning system regulator.

Causes and remedial action
Relative movements between the PCM/air-conditioning system regulator and the basic centre console carrier at the front can cause creaking/clicking noises while driving.

If a complaint is received, tricot tape or transparent Teflon tape must be affixed to the PCM/air-conditioning system regulator to remedy the situation on vehicles manufactured before the specified date of introduction March 2006.

Preliminary work
1. Remove PCM.
2. Remove air-conditioning system regulator.

Reworking PCM and air-conditioning system regulator
1. Remedial action 1







1.1. Cut a strip of tricot tape approx. 200 mm long.
1.2. Cut two strips of tricot tape each approx. 85 mm long.
1.3. Stick tricot tape -1- on the PCM flange -2- at the top and bottom.







1.4. Cut two strips of Teflon tape measuring 50 and 60 mm long.
1.5. Stick Teflon tape -1- on the two PCM guide cams -2- at the left and right.







1.6. Cut a strip of Teflon tape measuring 50 mm x 180 mm.
1.7. Stick Teflon tape -1- on the top of the PCM housing -2-.

2. Remedial action 2







2.1. Cut four strips of tricot tape each approx. 25 mm long.
2.2. Stick tricot tape -1- around the four spacers for the air-conditioning system regulator -2-.

Subsequent work
1. Install air-conditioning system regulator.
2. Install PCM.
