Stereo Lambda Control

24 - Stereo Lambda Control

Both cylinder banks have a separate Lambda control circuit in order to determine and meter the best air/fuel mixture. The functions of the catalytic converters are monitored by four Lambda probes, two each installed in the left and right exhaust tracts respectively. In addition to the conventional step Lambda probes (LSF) which are installed downstream of the pre-catalytic converters, the sensitive wideband Lambda probes (LSU) are installed upstream of the pre-catalytic converters. This keeps fuel consumption and exhaust emissions as low as possible under all operating conditions.
