Symptoms

Whistling noises between 70 and 110 km/h with partial load

Causes and remedial action

Whistling noises may be heard while driving in the partial-load range between 70 and 110 km/h. This can be caused by chain noises from the transfer gear.

In the event of a verified complaint, the transfer gear must be replaced on vehicles manufactured before the date of introduction November 2005.

Replacing transfer gear

1. Replace transfer gear.
2. Check oil for transfer gear.
