Porsche Stability Management (PSM)

Fault Code 0493

Combination sensor

Diagnostic conditions

- Ignition on
- Internal PSM control module function test

Possible cause of fault

Actual value of functions integrated in the combination sensor:
- Rate-of-turn sensor
- Axial acceleration sensor
- Transverse acceleration sensor is evaluated and displays an implausible value (implausible signal).
- Internal CAN: Wire faulty (no signal/communication)
- Short circuit to B+ (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Short circuit to ground (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Open circuit in circuit to control module (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Combination sensor faulty

CAUTION: The combination sensor must not be dropped and must be protected from severe impact.

NOTE: The transverse and axial acceleration sensor and the rate-of-turn sensor are integrated into the combination sensor housing. If a fault is detected in one of these three sensors, the combination sensor must be replaced. The integrated transverse and axial acceleration sensor must be calibrated after replacement.

Affected pins

PSM control module plug:
- Pin 6 'voltage'
- Pin 24 'ground'
- Pin 25 'internal CAN (low)'
- Pin 29 'internal CAN (high)'

Diagnosis/troubleshooting PSM 0101

NOTE:
- Calibration of the transverse and axial acceleration sensor completed, or checked and found to be OK.
- During calibration, the flashing frequency of the ABS warning light increases to 1.9 Hz. The brake warning light flashes with a lower frequency (1.1 Hz).
- Visual inspection: In the next troubleshooting section, please check first that the affected 'pins' on the PSM control module plug connection and the 'pins' on the combination sensor plug connection are neither damaged nor corroded. The wiring of the affected components must also be checked for external damage. Repair damaged or corroded 'pins' if possible, otherwise replace affected 'pins'. Repair or replace damaged wire.
