Fault Code 1049
Fault code 1049Feedback signal lead, terminal 50
Diagnostic conditions
- Internal KESSY control module function test
Possible cause of fault
- Short circuit to ground or open circuit in wiring
- Short circuit to B+
- Electrical fault in electric circuit
- Starter relay faulty
- Control unit faulty
Affected pins
- Plug A on control module: Pin 51
- Starter relay in relay carrier in radiator tank E-box: Pin A20E
Diagnosis/troubleshooting
WARNING:
Danger of personal injury by moving vehicle independently with gear engaged and engine running.
- Before starting the engine in a vehicle with manual transmission, take the vehicle out of gear and put the hand brake on firmly
- Before starting the engine in a vehicle with automatic transmission, move the selector lever to position 'P' and put the hand brake on firmly
NOTE:
Visual inspection: In the next troubleshooting section, please check first that the affected pins on the KESSY control module plug connection are neither damaged nor corroded. The wiring and plugs of the affected components must also be checked for external damage and correct contacts. Repair damaged or corroded pins if possible, otherwise replace affected pins. Repair or replace damaged wires.
NOTE: Conventional diagnosis/troubleshooting cannot be performed for the fault type 'short circuit to B+', which is displayed using the 'F8' key in the 9588 Porsche System Tester II. The reason for this is that the ignition cannot be switched on when there is no control module connected. As a result, it is not possible to differentiate uniquely between a short circuit to terminal 30 and a short circuit to terminal 15. A thorough visual inspection of components and wiring must therefore be carried out before replacing a control module.
NOTE:
Battery voltage and signals: A battery voltage of between 11.4 and 14.5 V is required for the following troubleshooting procedure. This must be checked and provided, if necessary. Both signals and voltages as well as components or fuses (input side) must be guaranteed on the vehicle electrical system.
