Potentiometer footwell lights

NOTE:
- Vehicles with the coding 'comfort': After operating the 'central interior light off-switch (button)', the voltage supply to the roof console is interrupted.
- Interruption of the voltage supply in these vehicles leads to a fault entry in the fault memory.
- Before starting troubleshooting, the functionality of the footwell lights must be checked.
- Please erase fault memory and read out again.
- The fault 'potentiometer footwell lights' is stored again.
- Only if the functionality of the footwell lights is impaired must troubleshooting be carried out.
- If functionality is correct, no real fault is present, the apparent fault being caused by operating the 'central interior light off-switch (button)'.
- The fault should be ignored in this case as, after every actuation of the 'central interior light off-switch (button)', the fault entry 'potentiometer footwell lights' is made in the fault memory.

Diagnostic conditions
- Ignition on
- Internal control module function test
- Comfort interior lighting must be coded
- Open door (The footwell lights are set to maximum brightness when the door is opened)

Output is monitored when the footwell lights are 100 % activated (the very short activation time is not perceptible to the human eye); afterwards, the output is monitored cyclically.

Possible causes of fault
- 'implausible signal' The footwell lights are 100 % activated.

Affected pins
Plug 'A' on vehicle electrical system control module:
- Pin 12 'input for tapped potentiometer footwell lights'
- Pin 25 'output to ground for potentiometer footwell lights'

Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
- Before replacing the control module, the ground connections, power supply and plug connections on the control module must be checked.
- When replacing the vehicle electrical system control module, observe the coding of the control module.
- After the test drive, read out the fault memory with the Porsche System Tester II No. 9588 again. Additional causes of faults that could damage the vehicle electrical system control module should be detected and remedied.
