CAN Timeout - Four-Wheel Drive - Message
Diagnosis conditions
- Battery positive voltage between 10 V and 16 V
- Switch on the ignition
- Internal function test for DME control module
Possible fault cause
- No communication possible with longitudinal lock control module (no signal from longitudinal lock control module)
Affected pin
DME control module connector A, pin 60, 'CAN - HIGH'
DME control module connector A, pin 58, 'CAN - LOW'
Diagnosis/troubleshooting
- If the received signal does not appear via the CAN data bus for multiple control modules, the CAN data bus must be checked for an open circuit and/or a short circuit. In this regard, see 'Checking instructions/CAN data bus'.
- The 'CAN-Four-Wheel Drive-Message' message consists of the message from the 'transfer box control module' and the message from the 'longitudinal interlock control module'. The 'transfer box control module' processes the messages from the 'longitudinal interlock control module' and transmits the information in accordance with its priority.
- If connector A is disconnected from the DME control module and the ignition is or was switched on, the 'DME Control Module Timeout' fault is recorded in many control modules.
- If control module connector A was disconnected from the DME in the course of troubleshooting or if the voltage supply was interrupted elsewhere (battery, fuse), the throttle adjusting unit must be adapted.
