Changing engine oil and oil filter





Draining engine oil

Warning
Danger due to oil draining out and spraying when the engine is hot.
^ Danger of scalding and injury


- Allow engine to cool down.
- Wear specified protective gear.

Information
^ Before pulling out the telescopic filler tube, always place a clean cloth over the drive belt and generator to absorb any drops of engine oil.

1. Place a clean cloth -1- over the generator and drive belt and pull the telescopic filler tube -2- out as far as it will go.

1.1. Open the cover -1- on the oil filler tube by turning it anti-clockwise.

1.2. Open the cover -1- and clean the inside with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Information
Use only engine oils tested and approved by Porsche AG.
^ Dispose of waste oil in accordance with legal requirements in your country.

2. Unscrew the oil drain plug -1- at the oil pan (a/f 8 hexagon socket) and drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

2.1. The drain plug and sealing ring must be replaced.
3. After draining the engine oil, screw in a new oil drain plug -1- with a new aluminum sealing ring -2-.

- Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)
4. If the cover -1- is damaged, it can be unclipped from the filler tube -arrow- and replaced.

Information
^ Never use a sharp object to remove or fit the O-ring on the oil filter cover.
^ Do not scratch the sealing surface of the oil-filter housing.

The oil filter is located in the engine compartment: -1-

1. Loosen the oil filter cover using a socket-wrench insert (a/f 27) -1-.

1.1. Cover adjacent components with clean cloths to prevent oil from dripping onto or into them.
2. Carefully remove the oil filter cover -2- and wipe off residual oil with a cloth -1-.
2.1. Lever off the old O-ring -3- on the filter cover using a plastic spatula.
2.2. Pull the filter element -4- out of the housing using a cloth and wrap it in the cloth.

3. Clean oil filter cover thoroughly inside and out.
3.1. Fit new O-ring and grease lightly with Kluber Syntheso Glep (Part No. 000.043.204.68).
4. Clean the oil-filter housing with a clean cloth.
5. Fit new filter element -arrow- - it can be fitted on either side.

6. Screw in the oil filter cover and tighten to the specified torque.

- Tightening torque: 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)

Refilling engine oil

1. Place a clean cloth over the generator and drive belt to catch any oil that overflows.

Caution
Incorrect oil level
^ Damage to engine and catalytic converter.


- Always observe specification for oil fill quantities.

^ Dispose of waste oil in accordance with legal requirements in your country.

2. Slowly pour in new engine oil using a clean container -1- or a fuel nozzle -arrow-.
Observe the prescribed filling capacity.

Engine oil filling capacities:
- Filling capacity with and without filter: 7.5 liters
- Filling capacity: 10 liters

3. Close the cover -1- and fit it at the displayed position.

3.1. Tighten the cover -1- by turning it clockwise as far as it will go.
The oil pan should be horizontal when the cover is closed.

4. Check engine-oil level.
