Removing And Installing Instrument Panel

Technical values







Preliminary work

1. Remove steering wheel. Refer to Removing and installing steering wheel.
2. Remove trim panel under dashboard. Refer to Removing and installing dashboard trim panel.
3. Remove dashboard insert. Refer to Removing and installing dashboard insert.
4. Remove passenger's airbag unit. Refer to Removing and installing passenger's airbag unit.

INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with stopwatch.

5. Remove stopwatch. Refer to Removing and installing stopwatch.
6. Remove front loudspeakers. Refer to Removing and installing front loudspeaker.
7. Remove oddments tray. Refer to Removing and installing oddments tray.
8. Remove switch console. Refer to Removing and installing switch console.
9. Remove display and PCM operator control unit. Refer to Removing and installing display and PCM operator control unit.
10. Remove dashboard mouldings. Refer to Removing and installing dashboard moulding.
11. Remove central locking switch. Refer to Removing central locking switch.
12. Remove middle air vent. Refer to Removing and installing middle air vent.
13. Remove air vent at door. Refer to Removing and installing air vent at door.
14. Remove warning light switch. Refer to Removing and installing warning-light switch.

Removing instrument panel

Removing the device carrier







1. Undo fastening screws -1-.







INFORMATION: Unclip electrical lead in vehicles with a telephone handset.


2. Pull device carrier -2- to the rear.

Undoing intermediate piece for defroster cover







1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on defroster intermediate piece -2-.







2. Remove defroster cover lid -3-.

Removing dashboard







1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- from dashboard -2- at the lower front passenger side.







2. Press outer air guides -3- slightly downwards and unscrew fastening screws -1- from dashboard -2-.







3. Unscrew fastening screws -1- near instrument cluster and centre air guides -3- from dashboard -2-.







INFORMATION: When removing the instrument panel, make sure that no wires or plug connections are damaged.

4. With the help of a second person, carefully remove dashboard to the rear.

Installing instrument panel

Checking dashboard clamps







1. Check dashboard clamps and replace if necessary.







Installing dashboard







INFORMATION: When installing the instrument panel, make sure that no wires or plug connections are trapped.

1. With the help of a second person, carefully fit dashboard over the dashboard bracket.







INFORMATION: Before securing the instrument panel, make sure that all wires and plug connections are routed correctly.

2. Screw in dashboard -2- near instrument cluster and centre air guide -3- with the fastening screws -1-.

INFORMATION: Before securing the instrument panel, make sure that all wires and plug connections are routed correctly.

3. Screw in dashboard -2- at the lower front passenger side with the fastening screws -1-.







4. Screw in dashboard -2- near outer air guides -3- with the fastening screws -1-.







Securing intermediate piece for defroster cover







1. Position fastening screws -1- with the defroster cover lid -3- on the intermediate piece for the defroster cover -2- and tighten as required. Tightening torque: Final tightening: 2.0 ftlb.







Installing the device carrier







1. Position device carrier -2- and screw down with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: Final tightening: 2.0 ftlb.







Subsequent work

1. Install warning-light switch. Refer to Removing and installing warning-light switch.
2. Install middle air vent. Refer to Removing and installing middle air vent.
3. Install air vent at door. Refer to Removing and installing air vent at door.
4. Install central locking switch. Refer to Installing central locking switch.
5. Install dashboard moulding. Refer to Removing and installing dashboard moulding.
6. Install display and PCM operator control unit. Refer to Removing and installing display and PCM operator control unit.
7. Install switch console. Refer to Removing and installing switch console.
8. Install oddments tray. Refer to Removing and installing oddments tray.
9. Install front loudspeakers. Refer to Removing and installing front loudspeaker.

INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with stopwatch.

10. Install stopwatch. Refer to Removing and installing stopwatch.
11. Install passenger's airbag unit. Refer to Removing and installing passenger's airbag unit.
12. Install dashboard insert. Refer to Removing and installing dashboard insert.
13. Install trim panel under dashboard. Refer to Removing and installing dashboard trim panel.
14. Install steering wheel. Refer to Removing and installing steering wheel.
