Symptom

Seat moves (tilts) during load changes while driving or too much play in seat frame.

Causes and remedial action
Cause
Play in height adjustment mechanism of electric seat adjuster.

Remedial action
In the event of a complaint, replace the seat frame with a new seat frame with a torsion spring.
The torsion spring pre-tensions the height adjustment mechanism downwards, thereby reducing the amount of play.

Replacing seat frame

1. Remove the seat as described in the repair information, -> 720119 Removing and installing front seat - section on "Removing" 720119 Removing and Installing Front Seat.
2. For left seat only: Remove the left backrest cover as described in the repair information, -> 722619 Removing and installing backrest cover - section on "Removing" 722619 Removing and installing cover for backrest.

WARNING

Torsion spring is fitted with significant preload.

-> The torsion spring cannot be removed.

3. Check that the torsion spring is installed on the left side of the seat ( -item 1- ).

4. If there is no torsion spring installed, replace the seat frame as described in the repair information, => Replacing seat frame.
5. If necessary, re-install the left backrest cover as described in the repair information, -> 722619 Removing and installing backrest cover - section on "Installing" 722619 Removing and installing cover for backrest.
6. Install the seat as described in the repair information, -> 720119 Removing and installing front seat - section on "Installing" 720119 Removing and Installing Front Seat.
