Removing And Installing Front Seat

Removing front seat

Removing seat rail cover







INFORMATION: Caution: Locking lugs can break.







1. Insert a screwdriver -1- under the lugs and press upwards slightly -Arrow A-.
2. Pull seat rail covers -2- on right and left seat rails off in forward direction.

Undoing seat screws at front










1. Move seat -1- to its rear limit position and undo the front fastening screws -2- from the right and left seat rails -3-.

Undoing seat screws at rear










1. Move seat to its front limit position and undo the fastening screws -1- from the right and left seat rails -2-.

Releasing electrical line







1. Disconnect battery. - 2706IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery







2. Tilt seat backwards.
3. Unclip wiring harness -1-.

Disconnecting central plug










1. Release plug connector locking device -1- on the side -Arrow A- and separate the plug connection -2- -Arrow B-.

Disconnecting electrical plug connection (power seat)







INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with electrically adjustable seat







1. Release electrical plug connection -1- by activating the locking tab -arrow A- and remove from seat memory control unit -arrow B-.
2. Remove front seat.

Disconnecting the electrical plug connection of the AWS control module







INFORMATION:
- Only for USA/Canada version vehicles.
- Passenger's seat only.







1. Release electric connector -1- by pressing the lug -arrow a- and pull off from control module.

Installing front seat

Fastening electric line







WARNING:
If the wiring at the telephone holder is not routed correctly, the wires can catch at the seat.
- Danger of destroying/damaging wire harness for the telephone control unit
- The wire harness at the telephone holder must not be routed over the edge.








INFORMATION:
- The routing of the wire harness for the control unit must be checked before installing the seat.
- The wire harness must not be routed over the cover, but should be laid along side the cover -A-.


INFORMATION: Before installing and securing the front seat, make sure the electric lines are not pinched or damaged.







1. Place front seat in vehicle and tilt backwards.
2. Check tie-wrap -1- ; replace tie-wrap -1- if necessary.
3. Clip wire harness -2- into place.

Locking the electrical plug connection of the AWS control module







INFORMATION:
- Only for USA/Canada version vehicles.
- Passenger's seat only.







1. Push electric connector -1- onto AWS control module until it is felt to engage.

Connecting electrical plug connection (power seat)







INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with electrically adjustable seat







1. Push in electrical plug connection -1- -arrow A- until the locking tab audibly engages -arrow B-.


Locking central plug










1. Join the plug connection -1- -Arrow A-, press in plug connector locking device -2- on the side -Arrow B-.

Tightening seat screws at rear







DANGER: Loosen the safety screws.
- Danger of injury if front seat is not screwed down correctly.
- Always replace fastening screws for the front seat after customer service and reworking.
- It is not permissible to make alterations to the micro-encapsulated screws (e.g., use lubricant, loosen bolts, and screw them down again).








1. Tip seat forwards and position seat rails on the seat baseframe.
2. Screw left and right fastening screws -1- into seat bracket -2- and tighten to specified tightening torque Final tightening: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.).

Tightening seat screws at the front







DANGER: Loosen the safety screws.
- Danger of injury if front seat is not screwed down correctly.
- Always replace fastening screws for the front seat after customer service and reworking.

1. Connect the battery. - 2706IN Working instructions after disconnecting the battery







2. Move seat -1- to rear end position and screw down front fastening screws -2- to specified tightening torque - Final tightening: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.).

Fit seat rail cover










1. Push seat rail cover -1- into front end of the left and right seat rails -Arrow A- until the locking tab audibly engages -Arrow B-.

Subsequent work

WARNING:
Incorrect information for the AWS control unit
- Passenger's airbag is triggered incorrectly

- Calibrate the AWS control unit if the passenger's seat was removed and re-installed, or if the seat bracket or AWS control unit was replaced.
- Do not loosen the safety screws on the AWS sensors or seat frame.
- Only replace retainer plate for seat adjustment motor on vehicles without AWS sensors.
- Always replace the retainer plate together with the seat frame on vehicles with an AWS sensor.
