Quarter Window Glass: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Side Window

Technical values







Preliminary work

1. Remove rubber seal for door. Refer to Removing and installing rubber seal for door.
2. Remove oddments tray. Refer to Removing and installing oddments tray.
3. Remove deflector for front three-point belt. Refer to Removing and installing front three-point seat belt.
4. Unclipping A-pillar trim panel in area of side window

Removing side window







1. Drill out rivet -2- from the side window seal -1- using a 4.1 mm drill bit.







2. Unscrew fastening nuts -1-.







3. Remove side window -1- first at the top -Arrow A- and then at the bottom -Arrow B-.







Installing side window







INFORMATION: The removed side window can be reinstalled if there is no prior damage to the side window.

1. Slightly pull out seal for side window -1-.







2. Insert the side window -1- into the side window seal -2- (-arrow A-) and press them together into the side panel -arrow B-.







3. Coat the threaded pin with Loctite 243. Fit fastening nuts -1, 2-.







4. Rivet down seal for side window -1- with rivets -2-.







5. Press in rubber seal for door. Refer to Removing and installing rubber seal for door.
6. Adjust the side window with respect to the door window (check that they are parallel and check adjustment dimensions). Gap dimension A: 7 mm ± 1 mm







6.1. Slide the side window -1- loosely into the holes until gap dimension -A- is reached. Gap dimension A: 7 mm ± 1 mm
6.2. Adjust the side window -1- in Y direction at the adjusting screw -2- until gap dimension -B- is reached. Gap dimension B: 1 mm
Align the side window parallel to the door window if the gap is conical.
6.3. Tighten fastening nuts once you have aligned the window. Tightening torque: 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.), 2.5 Nm (2 ftlb.) ± 0.5 Nm (±0.5 ftlb.)

Subsequent work

1. Clip A-pillar trim panel into place in area of B-pillar trim panel.
2. Install deflector for front three-point belt. Refer to Removing and installing front three-point belt.
3. Install oddments tray. Refer to Removing and installing oddments tray.
