Removing And Installing Air Cushion For Backrest

Preliminary work

1. Remove padding for front backrest. Refer to Removing and installing padding for front backrest.

INFORMATION: Only necessary if you are removing the hose for the air cushion control valve.

2. Remove cover for left backrest. Refer to Removing and installing cover for backrest.

Removing air cushion for backrest







1. Remove the two tie-wraps -1-.







2. Pull off the two hoses for the air cushion for backrest -2- at the branch piece -3-.
3. Push out the pins -2- on the two expanding clips -1- (-arrow A-) and remove the expanding clips -1-.







4. Remove air cushion for backrest -3- (-arrow C-).
5. Pull air cushion for backrest -1- together with the hose out of the backrest frame.







Removing hose for air cushion control valve

1. Remove tie-wraps -2- and push hose -1- for air cushion control valve through in a downward direction -arrow A-.







2. Unclip the hose -1- at the holder -3- (-arrow B-).
3. Pull hose -1- off the air cushion control valve.







Installing air cushion for backrest

Installing hose for air cushion control valve

1. Push hose -1- onto the air cushion control valve.







2. Lay the hose -1- and clip it into the holder -3- (-arrow A-).







3. Pull the hose -1- through in an upward direction -arrow B- and secure with a new tie-wrap -2-.

Installing air cushion for backrest

1. Slide hose for the air cushion for backrest -1- into the backrest frame.







2. Position air cushion for backrest -3- (-arrow A-).







3. Secure the air cushion for backrest -3- with the two expanding clips -1- (-arrows B-). To do this, press the pins -2- into the expanding clips -1- (-arrow C-).
4. Slide the two hoses for the air cushion for backrest -2- onto the branch piece -3- and secure with two new tie-wraps -1-.







Checking seat following removal

1. Connect the removed seat to the vehicle's wiring harness via test cable 9745 and test cable 9745/1.
2. Connect electric plug to control module trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing control module trim panel.
3. Connect the battery. Refer to Work instructions after disconnecting the battery.
4. Switch on ignition.
5. Carry out a function check on the seat components.
6. Switch off ignition after function test and disconnect battery.
7. Disconnect test cable 9745 and test cable 9745/1.

Subsequent work

1. Install cover for left backrest. Refer to Removing and installing cover for backrest.
2. Install padding for front backrest. Refer to Removing and installing padding for front backrest.
