Removing protective strips for roof





Installation position of protective strips

1. Remove protective strip.
1.1. Heat up protective strip -1- uniformly using a hot-air gun.
1.2. Starting at the back -arrow A- , use an assembly wedge -2- to prise the protective strip evenly up off the roof -arrow B-.
1.3. Loosen remaining bonded areas of the protective strip by pulling it up and off.

2. Remove traces of adhesive.
2.1. Remove traces of adhesive in the installation area -arrows- with an erasing disc.

3. Remove the other three protective strips in the same way and remove all traces of adhesive.

Information

Do not touch cleaned bonding surfaces on the roof.

1. Wipe off installation area -A- with a cloth soaked in isopropanol.

Information

The protective strips are marked with an arrow underneath. This arrow must point in direction of travel during fitting.

2. Position protective strips on the vehicle.

Information

The protective strips must be aligned with the beads running along the roof and the rear edge of the roof.

3. Align and fit protective strip on the vehicle.
3.1. Place protective strip -1- on the roof of the vehicle and align it with the centre bead -arrows A-.
3.2. Work out installation position of protective strip with respect to the rear edge of the roof. Maintain the dimension -X1- => Required value: 26 mm.
3.3. Mark installation position with a strip of adhesive tape -2-.





Taking measurements for protective strip

Information

- The object and room temperature must be at least 18° C for bonding the components.

- The components must be bonded for at least 24 hours before washing the vehicle.

4. Stick protective strip on the vehicle.
4.1. Lift up protective strip -1- and pull off protective film -2- using the pulling aid -3- ( -arrows A- ).
4.2. Place protective strip -1- at the marked installation position -4- at the rear of the roof -arrow B-.

4.3. Starting at the back, centre the protective strip -1- in the bead and press down lightly in the bonding area.

Information

Make sure that the protective strip is fitted correctly and evenly on the roof of the vehicle. Rework it again using a rubber roller if necessary.

4.4. Press protective strip -1- on firmly and evenly using a rubber roller -2-.
4.5. Pull off adhesive tape -3- ( -arrow A- ).

5. Stick on the other three protective strips in the same way.
