Diagnosis information - DME (DFI)

Lambda correction behind catalytic converter, bank 1 - lean / rich control limit exceeded

NOTE: The fault is detected if the adaptation limit (4%) has been exceeded.

NOTE: Do not use contact spray on the oxygen sensor's plug connections as this will result in irreparable damage to the lines (blockage of reference air duct).

NOTE: Do not interchange the oxygen sensor ahead of catalytic converter with the sensor behind the catalytic converter as this will result in implausible fault entries.

Diagnostic conditions
- All 4 oxygen sensors ready for operation
- Lambda control active
- Engine speed 640 ... 4,000 rpm
- Engine load 15 .. 70 %
- Catalytic converter temperature more than 400 °C (752 °F)
- Mass air flow 9.4 ... 528 kg/h
- Engine running more than 2 minutes
- No fault P2270, P2271 or P0041 entered

Possible fault causes
- Leak in exhaust system between the two oxygen sensors on bank 1
- Tank vent stuck in open position
- Secondary air before intake valve
- Fault in intake camshaft
- Valve lift error
- Mechanical fault in valve drive
- Oxygen sensor ahead of catalytic converter, bank 1 faulty (old)
